MAC PRODUCT CODES...WHAT DO THEY MEAN????
Do you ever wonder just how old IS that tube of lipstick that you won on e-bay? Or how about that blush that you swapped with someone?? Is there a funny smell to some of your favorite products? Are you unsure of when to discard them? Well I'm here to tell you how easy it is to find out exactly how old your MAC products really are.
MAC places production codes on their products which are an easy way of figuring out when to toss some of your perishable cosmetics. They can also be useful for working out which pigments are considered to be face-friendly (meaning the products are safe for the face, eyes, and lips) because previous productions of pigments were not.
PRODUCT CODE BREAKDOWN:
The first letter indicates the production run that month:
A was the first run,
B the second and so on.
The second letter or number indicates the month of production:
1 = JANUARY
2 = FEBRUARY
3 = MARCH
4 = APRIL
5 = MAY
6 = JUNE
7 = JULY
8 = AUGUST
9 = SEPTEMBER
A = OCTOBER
B = NOVEMBER
C = DECEMBER
The final number indicates the year of production.
Using the numbers above as a guide you can see that this MAC lipstick was in the first production run of July 2007.
