NOTD: MAYBELLINE COLOR SHOW NAIL LACQUER #370 SHOCKING SEAS

Maybelline has 40 hot new nail shades to make your own.
Discover how to take looks straight from the catwalk to the sidewalk.

Color Show Nail Lacquer
Bolder, crisper color that just won’t quit

I had been wanting to try the new Maybelline Color Show nail lacquers since seeing an ad for them in my Allure magazine. The range of colors were so bright and colorful. I decided to pick up a few colors and #370 Shocking Seas is one of the polishes that I purchased. It is a solid cream polish with a color mixture of turquoise blue (but with less green) and a sky blue color. It has a smooth application with two coats giving opaque coverage. However, the brush is rather narrow but it doesn't hinder the application process.

The Maybelline Color Show nail lacquers are currently priced at $3.99 ea for .23 fl oz. and can be found at any local drugstore or discount store. I purchased three more Color Show nail lacquers and I will post a review of those in the coming weeks. So check back for those updates.

SALLY HANSEN: PRESTO PEWTER INSTA-DRI NAIL POLISH

Insta-Dri™ Fast Dry Nail Color

One Stroke. One Coat. Done.

Nail color covers in just one coat, brilliantly. The Perfectionist Brush™ contours to any nail, so color always glides on precisely, quickly, flawlessly. And, the exclusive Flexiglass Complex combines beautiful, brilliant shine and super strong wear. So simple, so Sally.

Application Tips

One coat, one stroke for quick and easy application.

Benefits

Dries in 60 seconds
One coat coverage
Instantly irresistible shades
No DBP, Toluene or Free Formaldehyde

Presto Pewter Insta-Dri nail polish is part of Sally Hansen's Fall 2011 collection. I purchased the Presto Pewter nail polish at Walgreen's and it retails for approx. $4 to $5. The polish formula is really thick and has a really wide brush applicator. When I applied the polish to my nails it took only one coat but it was quite messy.
Final thoughts...the name "Presto Pewter" is a bit misleading because when I think Pewter, a darkened silver color comes to mind. However, this color is more of a silver gray with hints of bronz-y gold reflected in the polish if that makes sense. I guess it has to do with the shimmer and when the light hits the polish it reflects a multitude of colors. Overall I really like this color and it will definitely be a good Fall color to have in your collection. Check out my review of the "Ruby Rush" polish from this collection here.

SALLY HANSEN: RUBY RUSH INSTA-DRY NAIL POLISH

Ruby Rush Insta-Dri nail polish is part of Sally Hansen's Fall 2011 collection. I purchased the Ruby Rush polish at Walgreen's and it retails for approx. $4 to $5. I've checked at other stores, Target, Ulta, Walmart, etc., and I have found several of the other polishes from this collection but I have yet to find this particular color anywhere else. So I'm not sure if it will be exclusive to Walgreen's or it just hasn't been distributed to other retailers yet. The polish formula is really thick and has a really wide brush applicator and when I applied the polish to my nails it took only one coat. Final thoughts...the name "Ruby Rush" is a bit misleading because when I think Ruby, a deep dark red comes to mind. However, this color is more of a pinkish purple raspberry color if that makes sense. I guess it has to do with the shimmer and when the light hits the polish it reflects a multitude of colors.

REVLON SUMMER ROMANTICS - BLUE LAGOON

I recently picked up the June issue of People Style Watch, which is one of my favorite magazines to read. What I love most about this mag is how they will show a celebrity style & then show the reader a much cheaper alternative for those of us who can't afford the much pricier version. Also, you are sure to find the most up to date / upcoming makeup collections that will be debuting within the next couple of weeks. So if you happen to have a copy of the June issue then turn to page 61 and you will see a Revlon ad featuring Jessica Alba. Now I am not a huge Jessica Alba fan, although hubs seems to love her (Ha Ha!), I really do love this picture of her. Especially the nail polish and the lip color, I WANT IT!!!

Typically most magazine ads don't list the products which are used on the models that are photographed in the ads. However, fortunately for me, this Revlon ad lists the exact colors that were used to create her look. The products are from the Revlon Summer romantics collection and I think they are just so beautiful and perfect for summer; I can't wait to get my hands on them.

So I went out last night to see if I could find the products...

My first stop was Walmart where I immediately found the nail polish - Blue Lagoon.

The nail polish is a light sky blue color with silver micro glitter throughout and when the light hits the polish it actually glistens on the nails. No regrets here ladies it is true love ♥

What made finding it even better...the price. Walmart was selling it for $3.74 a bottle.

Regretfully though I couldn't find any of the lip products so the search continues for them!

ESSIE SUMMER 2011 - SMOOTH SAILING POLISH

Color Me Brazilliant Collection

Essie just released this beautiful color, Smooth Sailing, along with several other gorgeous shades just this month. This color is from the Essie Summer 2011 Color Me Brazilliant collection. Now if you were to search the Essie website, it states this color will be available soon so I was pleasantly surprised to find it at my local Walmart when I was there earlier tonight shopping for groceries.

Some have described this polish as periwinkle blue in color while others have said it is more of a cornflower shade of blue. Personally I think it is a combination of both colors and with minuscule flecks of pink, blue, silver and even purple bits of glitter mixed in the polish it almost has a luminous quality to it. The polish, once applied, leaves a bumpy almost gritty feel to the top of the nail. So the texture, depending on how thick or thinly you apply the polish can feel really gritty. Also, I found that when I was applying the polish it had a watery consistency and tended to glob (for lack of a better word) but I was still able to apply two coats with minimal smudging. Although additional drying time was necessary due to the runny consistency of the polish.

Overall, I think this color is really unique and I am happy with my purchase. I may even go back and purchase more colors from this collection. Here are some more pictures I took of me wearing the polish. I hope you enjoy them.

Walmart had them for $7.75 a bottle.
