SEPHORA VIB ROUGE STATUS

When I first heard about this concept of a VIB Rouge membership from my local Sephora I was really skeptical and thought for sure it was just a rumor. Then I saw on Twitter today, several people discussing this same thing. So I contacted a Sephora customer service rep and asked about the program. At first the Rep denied any knowledge of the program. When I pressed even further by offering up details she relented and stated that there is indeed such a program in the works.

Just last week Sephora's Marketing department notified their Customer Service department about this new marketing ploy - VIB Rouge. The concept behind VIB Rouge is to encourage consumers to spend even more than the $350 threshold that is required for the regular VIB status. With VIB Rouge, if you spend at least a $1,000 or more in a calendar year you will receive all the perks of the regular VIB status, unlimited access to the beauty studio, free shipping on ALL orders, exclusive invites to Rouge Events, and special surprise gifts.

Personally, I think this is a smart move on Sephora's part. This year I had managed to attain VIB Beauty status by April (read my post here) and I had stopped spending at Sephora. Instead, I had focused my efforts (and money) on Sephora's competitors beauty rewards programs. However, now I can redouble my efforts to try and attain VIB Rouge status at Sephora. So far this year I have spent about $641 so I still have a way to go but I'm pretty confident that I will be able to attain it. Even if I only qualify for one year it would still be nice to experience this status just to see what it is all about.

589 ELIXIR CHANEL LE VERNIS NAIL COLOUR - SWATCHES AND REVIEW

CHANEL 589 ELIXIR is one of those polishes that is nice to have in your collection. It is from the CHANEL FALL SUPERSTITION collection (read more about the entire collection here). This creamy pink polish is opaque with one coat. The formula didn't leave streaks and the application was smooth and applied evenly. The wear time with this polish was just under three days before I saw minor chipping at the nail tips. Even though the wear time wasn't as great as what I have experienced with other Chanel polishes it was better than most.

I purchased this polish a few weeks ago from the Nordstrom.com website but it is now available at all major department stores. However, as of this posting, it still isn't available on Chanel.com just yet. It currently retails for $27.00 USD for .4 fl. oz of product.

66 FANTASTIC - burgundy (limited edition)

I was able to purchase 66 FANTASTIC from Nordstrom.com. This new limited edition creme blush is one of the six new LE BLUSH CREME DE CHANEL from the Chanel Fall Superstition collection. The remaining five are to become part of Chanel's permanent line of blushes. Besides Fantastic, I also wanted to purchase 65 AFFINITE but it's no longer on the Nordstrom website. Hopefully I'll be able to purchase it on the Chanel website or from my local counter. For now though, I am extremely happy with Fantastic.

66 FANTASTIC is described as a burgundy colored blush but it seemed more like a bright raspberry pink (check out the swatches below). This creme blush goes on smooth and was extremely easy to blend out on my cheeks (see the last two pics below). It has a smooth feel and finish and I didn't notice any waxy or greasy residue. The blush is extremely pigmented so I only applied a light application and the color was still amazing. Since I applied such a light application I used my ring finger to blend out the blush instead of a makeup brush. Although one can be used, I preferred to use my hand and the warmth to help blend in the blush. The lasting power for the blush is dependent on how heavily it is applied. The blush soaks into the skin but if a heavy application is used then there is a chance for smudging or smearing. Overall the results from this creme blush are amazing. I am definitely going to purchase more.
