01 MARINIERE LES BEIGES HEALTHY GLOW MULTI COLOUR BROAD SPECTRUM SPF15 SUNSCREEN - SWATCHES AND REVIEW

Chanel recently launched their Les Beiges collection (read here). A natural looking collection with a healthy dose of color to enhance and brighten the complexion for summer. Sounds promising so I jumped on board and purchased one of two Les Beiges healthy glow powders in 01 Mariniere. The other, 02 Mariniere, was nice but a tad too dark / orange for my really pale skin tone so I passed on it. Both Chanel Mariniere powders are housed in a really nice luxurious looking cream colored mirrored compact. The Healthy glow powders offer skin protection from the sun with an SPF 15 and can be used as a highlighter, bronzer, blush, sculpting powder or face powder. They are on the price-y side at $65 each (.39 oz) but considering this is not your typical face powder and they are a multi-purpose powder with SPF 15 sunscreen protection that is to be expected. On me I'm pale enough that 01 Mariniere works best on me as a blush, a highlight and as an all-over face powder. It didn't look overly powdery on my already dry skin and it seemed to brighten ever so slightly the areas on my face once it was applied. Application with the enclosed fan brush was okay but it tended to make things a tad powdery. I achieved better results using the Chanel 7 blending foundation make up brush. This brush is similar to the MAC duo fiber face brushes but in my opinion the Chanel brush is more compact and the duo fiber bristles are less uniform so it allows for better coverage. Either brush will work but I achieved better results with my Chanel brush. Wear time with the Mariniere powders is more a matter of personal preference. Since it's also meant to be worn outdoors then depending on the person's activity level reapplication may be necessary after just a few hours. Or it could wear longer if physical activity is kept to a minimum. Either way, in my opinion these multi-purpose healthy glow powders are a good investment piece to have in your collection.

234 POESIE CHANEL LES 4 OMBRES MULTI-EFFECT QUADRA EYESHADOW - SWATCHES AND REVIEW

234 Poesie is a new Chanel Les 4 Ombres Multi-Effect eyeshadow quad. In addition to the limited edition Poesie, Chanel released eight new quads reformulated without talc and with a longer lasting eyeshadow formula. Check out the link below to read about the entire collection. These new quads are extremely pigmented and typically last a total wear time of eight to ten hours. The quads currently retail for $61.00 USD and they contain .07 oz of product.

The Poesie quad is described as a mixture of brown, beige, pink, and burgundy colors. The top right shade is more of a warm golden beige, the top left shade is a medium brown, the bottom right shade is a dark brown with slight reddish plum undertones and the bottom left shade is a pale pink. This quad has excellent color payoff, lasted a wear time of twelve hours with no creasing and only required an eyeshadow base for a vibrant application. The more I have used these new quads I am finding that a good eyeshadow base can really bring out the vibrant color more so than using them wet.

Final thoughts - I had the opportunity to see and swatch all nine of the quads this past week. They are all gorgeous and offer an array of color combinations to choose from. Some of the newer quads look similar to the older quads which is true but the formula for these make them a must have (no more chalky formula!). They also look and swatch better in person so if you have the opportunity it is worth the trip to check them out.

JUST A WISP MAC MINERALIZE BLUSH - SWATCHES AND REVIEW

JUST A WISP is a new frosty pale pink mineralize blush. It was released about two months ago when MAC unveiled their newly repackaged mineralize blushes. There were two new shades released with the relaunch: New Romance and Just A Wisp and I purchased both shades (check out the link below for New Romance). The mineralized blushes currently retail for $27.00 USD and they contain .10 oz of product. Wear time for Just A Wisp was about eight hours with slight fading and significant fading after ten hours.

204 TISSE VENDOME CHANEL LES 4 OMBRES MULTI-EFFECT QUADRA EYESHADOW - SWATCHES AND REVIEW

CHANEL 204 TISSE VENDOME quad is a collection of warm peaches and browns. It is part of the new Les 4 Ombres Multi-Effect Quadra eyeshadows that were just launched by Chanel (check out the link below to read more about them). There are a total of eight permanent shades in this collection. There is an additional limited edition bonus quad, Poesie, which will be released ahead of the entire collection at select department stores. While other department stores will release the collection including the limited edition bonus quad in its entirety all at once.

These new multi-effect quads are gorgeous, extremely pigmented and so easy to use and wear. Each quad contains two medium shades for color and contouring, a darker shade for more intensity and a lighter shade to highlight. In the Tisse Vendome quad the top right shade is a frosty pale gold with a satin finish and peach undertones. The top left is a warm tan brown although it looks like a light smokey grey brown in the pan. The bottom right is a medium dark brown and the bottom left is a beautiful frosty peach apricot shade. Each of these eyeshadows has a depth and color variation that is quite unique.

The formula for Tisse Vendome is unbelievably soft and build-able. As more pressure is applied the color intensity increases even more so when used wet. Although when used dry the color is still exceptional. The wear time for this quad was ten hours with minimal fading.

PEACHES AND CREAM MAC POWDER BLUSH - SWATCHES AND REVIEW

Sharon and Kelly Osbourne, the mother daughter duo teamed up with M·A·C for a limited-edition makeup collection for the face, lips and eyes. Each item is housed in eye-catching red packaging with Sharon or Kelly emblazoned on the front to signify their respective pieces from the collaboration. From this collection I purchased the Peaches and Cream blush. There were many other pieces from this collection that were really nice but none really wow-ed me like the blush. I wasn't going to review it at first because it was one of those items to sell out everywhere and it has been next to impossible to find. However, if you live near a CCO (Cosmetic Company Outlet store) then eventually you will be able to purchase the collection from there. I was just at my local CCO over the weekend and they had the entire RiRi collection available along with several other obscure M·A·C collections so just be patient. If patience isn't your thing then you can always purchase way-overpriced M·A·C pieces on eBay.

M·A·C Peaches and Cream Powder Blush is a very vibrant rose pink ideal for the cheeks and face. When swatched the texture felt sort of rough similar to sandpaper - I know, this doesn't sound pleasant! It wasn't buttery soft or smooth and seemed a little chalky. The peaches and cream blush is extremely pigmented but it applied unevenly. However it can be buffed and blended down for a nice rosy hue. Wear time for the blush was about eight hours to ten hours with slight fading. Peaches and Cream currently retails for $23.00 USD and it contains .21 oz of product.

FATHOMS DEEP MAC EXTRA DIMENSION EYESHADOW - SWATCHES AND REVIEW

MAC Fathoms Deep Extra Dimension eyeshadow is part of the Alluring Aquatics color collection. MAC describes it as a deep blue but it is a dark metallic plum eyeshadow with miniscule glitter flecks. There were six eyeshadows with this collection and I purchased two of them - Soul Serenade (link below for the review) and Fathoms Deep. They are currently priced at $19.50 each and contain .04 oz. of product. Unfortunately all six are sold out on the MAC website but I do know some of these are still available in store at several MAC counters (Belk or Nordstrom).

MAC has released their Extra Dimension eyeshadows previously but the formula, texture and pigmentation for these has quite improved from then. Fathoms Deep applies nicely but the color can look somewhat muddy if not applied in layers. Add to much and you will lose the beautiful deep plum color so take care with this one. It can be worn wet or dry and the pigmentation will still be amazing! These are really worth the money and the lasting power for Fathoms Deep when worn was about ten hours before I experienced some slight fading and creasing.

There were six eyeshadows with this collection and I purchased two of them - Soul Serenade and Fathoms Deep (I'm reviewing it next). They are currently priced at $19.50 each and contain .04 oz. of product. Unfortunately all six are sold out on the MAC website but I do know some of these are still available in store at several MAC counters (Belk or Nordstrom). This isn't the first time MAC has released their Extra Dimension eyeshadows but I do know that the formula, texture and pigmentation for these has quite improved from previous launches. With Soul Serenade it can be worn wet or dry and the pigmentation will still be amazing! These are really worth the money and the lasting power for Soul Serenade was about ten to twelve hours. There was slight fading after ten hours and then slight creasing after twelve hours.

EGGPLANT-BLEND MAC STUDIO SCULPT SHADE AND LINE - SWATCHES AND REVIEW

MAC Eggplant-Blend is an all in one eye product - it shapes, sculpts and lines the eyes. It contains a creamy soft pink eyeshadow, a pale grey eyeshadow and a dirty plum eyeliner. There are eight of these to choose from, they are currently priced at $21.00 USD and they contain .06 oz. of product. Each eye product houses two eyeshadows and one matte eyeliner. They can be applied dry for a muted soft look or applied wet for a bolder vibrant look. This is a nice concept. The two eyeshadows seem to blend beautifully together and the eyeliner seems to compliment the overall eye look as well. The only complaint I have is when the eyeshadows are applied dry. I wish the eyeshadows had been more pigmented and easier to work with. When applied dry I experienced significant fading, the colors weren't as pigmented and the lasting power was about four to five hours. When applied wet the colors really stand out, application is effortless, and the lasting power when worn is about ten hours with no creasing or fading.
