SEPHORA HAUL / SHOP SPREE: Lorac Golden Girl

I actually got the Lorac Golden Girl collection for Christmas but I forgot to post a pic. Anyway I found an old pic of the collection and I wanted to share it with you all. I am really loving this gift. The Lorac Golden Girl collection is a makeup bag of goodies that is the perfect set of cosmetics to keep at work for touch-ups throughout the work day or the perfect grab and go makeup bag for a night out on the town. The kit itself is small enough that it will not take up much room and it includes all the necessary products to help keep a busy gal or guy glam-ed all day ♥
I'll try and update the post with swatches of the products later in the week if I have time. But for now read below all the information that was listed on the Sephora website about this collection. Unfortunately I don't think it is available anymore which stinks.

Lorac Golden Girl Collection ($112 Value)

What it is:
An exclusive collection for eyes and lips

What it does:
Create globe trotting Golden Girl looks with LORAC's exclusive collection for eyes and lips! Natural smoky brown hues for eyes and nude, glossy lips make for this season's dynamic duo beauty trend.

This collection contains everything you need to shine in the spotlight: 2 Baked Matte Satin Eye Shadows in Posh and Social, Visual Effects Mascara in Jet Black, #18 Nude Lip Pencil and Couture Shine Liquid Lipstick in Vintage, all neatly packed in a gold metallic bag.

This set contains:

- 2 x 0.08 oz Baked Matte Satin Eye Shadow in Posh (matte ivory) and Social (matte chocolate brown)
- 0.17 oz Couture Shine Liquid Lipstick in Vintage (light neutral beige)
- 0.33 oz Visual Effects Mascara in Jet Black
- 0.04 oz Lip Pencil in 18 (light rosy nude)
- Metallic Gold Zip Bag

What it is formulated WITHOUT:
- Synthetic Dyes
- Phthalates
- GMOs
- Triclosan

This set, when it was available at Sephora, retailed for $36

Final Thoughts:
Everything was perfect with this collection with the exception of the lipliner and the mascara. The lipliner was not as smooth to apply as I would have liked it to be and the mascara was really only good for touch-ups as the size of the brush and the amount of product that was available were geared more for reapplication only. .

Industry insiders, beauty bloggers and lovers of LE VERNIS: the wait is
almost over. LES JEANS DE CHANEL, three denim-inspired nail shades

I'm so excited for these polishes. Sign up here so that you can purchase them as soon as they are available.

In the past, Chanel polishes have been a hit or miss with me. I've bought Rose Confidential and it lasted at least a week on my fingers and toes. However, Morning Rose, another Chanel polish, didn't make it past the second day before it started chipping. So I'm not going to write off Chanel polishes just yet.

Check back when I do a full review on the LES JEANS DE CHANEL polishes.

Ruby Rush Insta-Dri nail polish is part of Sally Hansen's Fall 2011 collection. I purchased the Ruby Rush polish at Walgreen's and it retails for approx. $4 to $5. I've checked at other stores, Target, Ulta, Walmart, etc., and I have found several of the other polishes from this collection but I have yet to find this particular color anywhere else. So I'm not sure if it will be exclusive to Walgreen's or it just hasn't been distributed to other retailers yet. The polish formula is really thick and has a really wide brush applicator and when I applied the polish to my nails it took only one coat. Final thoughts...the name "Ruby Rush" is a bit misleading because when I think Ruby, a deep dark red comes to mind. However, this color is more of a pinkish purple raspberry color if that makes sense. I guess it has to do with the shimmer and when the light hits the polish it reflects a multitude of colors.

China Glaze Crackle Glaze Metals for Summer 2011

China Glaze Crackle Glaze Metals for Summer 2011

Set your summer style to “sizzle” with China Glaze’s new Crackle Glaze Metals collection. The pioneer in crackle technology, China Glaze takes the beauty phenomenon to the next level with this second-generation polish that pairs the edgy innovation of crackle with the elegant beauty of metals. Create dramatically different looks with just one sweep of China Glaze Crackle Glaze Metals. Layer over different base colors to create bold styles. Use a lighter coat to create a fine crackle, a thicker coat for a deep shatter effect.

The China Glaze Crackle Glaze Metals collection features six, limited edition sparkling metallic colors including:
  • Cracked Medallion - Bold bronze
  • Haute Metal - Pale pink
  • Latticed Lilac - Soft lavender
  • Oxidized Aqua - Deep aquamarine blue
  • Platinum Pieces - Shimmering silver
  • Tarnished Gold - Warm, honeyed hue
Crackle polishes were really popular earlier this year; think early Spring. Everyone was on the lookout for the stuff. The polishes would sell out within the first two days of hitting store shelves. Sometimes the response / demand was so great, depending on the unique factor of the crackle polish, they would be gone in less time than that.
Fast forward to now, mid-August, and the popularity has died down considerably. Call it over-exposure, or maybe it is just the changing of fashion trends. Either way I wasn't that excited to hear about another crackle polish being released at the end of July, even though this time it was to feature more of a crackle glazed metal look and feel to the nails. Enough already with the crackle.
A few days go by and my curiosity got the better of me and I went to my local Sally Beauty Salon to see the colors and try them on. I realized immediately that I had misjudged these crackle polishes and that my previous opinion was totally off base. While I was applying the crackle glazed metal polishes, I was most impressed with how smoothly the polish went on and I noticed an almost immediate crackle effect on the nails. In the past, I didn't have much success with them. They would just gunk up on the nail and there would be little to no crackle effect. So I knew that these nail polishes were different. I just don't know if it is because of the glazed metal attribute or if the nail polish formulation is altogether different from past crackle polishes. Anyway I bought 5 of the 6 colors that are currently available and I'm having a great time with them. No regrets here ladies and gentlemen!

OPI Spring/Summer 2011 Katy Perry Collection - Not Like the Movies

OPI Not Like The Movies is a duochrome light silvery moss green with violet flash metallic shimmer nail polish color.
I am planning on having a blog sale in the near future. So on Sunday I was going through my makeup trying to see if there was anything that I wanted to sell and I came across this nail polish. I had totally forgotten about it (which is one of the first signs that you have to much makeup, when you forget that you have stuff! LOL). Anyway, I love this polish because it looks blue, then purple, or even green depending on how the light's rays reflect off the nail. Oh, and it has mini micro flecks of silver glitter too! Ha Ha! You know it!!!! Woo Hoo! All about the glitter up in here....

Okay, back to the topic. I have bought OPI polishes in the past and I really love how they go on so smooth and even. I typically get about a good 3-4 days wear without chipping and that is without a base or top coat either. If I use a base or top coat then I get an additional day or so more of wear with the polishes.

I think I bought this polish at Beauty Brands which is a Salon and Spa store that sells various hair care items with a small section of the store devoted to makeup. They offer a variety of beauty services that make it the perfect "go-to" place for hair, eyebrow and nail maintenance. You can even get a massage there too if you are feeling the least bit stressed.
